General Practice Registrar or Academic Registrar position

We are pleased to offer placement for a GP Registrar in third or fourth term in either a part time or full time capacity. We also have the option of an Academic Registrar post if you have an interest in General Practice Research.

Based in the pristine Huon Valley, 40mins south of Hobart, the Huon Valley Health Centre has always been focused on excellence in health and wellbeing service delivery to our patients. We think and reflect deeply about the needs of our patients and how we can meet them in a meaningful way. We have a diverse group of practitioners with a broad range of interests, who service an equally diverse rural population. We have developed a truly multidisciplinary team, resulting in a working environment that is engaging, flexible and dynamic.

We have a strong teaching and learning focus, having five GP Supervisors and being accredited as a Level 1 RACGP teaching practice for GP Registrars affiliated with General Practice Training Tasmania. We host students from the University of Tasmania and beyond, in the disciplines of medicine (second-fifth years), nursing and pharmacy. We are the only accredited primary care rotation for interns from the Royal Hobart Hospital. Our inherent curiosity drives our participation in general practice research.

We are focussed on supporting our team of GPs to work to the best of their abilities, and have developed our multidisciplinary team around this concept. Full time nursing support is available at all locations, and our in-house allied health team (Nurse Practitioner, Psychologist, Clinical Pharmacist and Social Worker) assist our GPs to provide the meaningful care we pride ourselves on.
